In October of 2025, the company announced that its state-of-the-art Wrong Way Vehicle Detection (WWVD) System has been added to the Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) Approved Products List (APL). This approval, achieved through the Product Application and Tracking History (PATH) program, represents a major milestone for the company and follows years of rigorous evaluation. WWVD systems are designed to help prevent catastrophic accidents by detecting vehicles traveling in the wrong direction. IntelliRoad’s WWVD system leverages AI-driven analytics, and a scalable platform, to provide real-time alerts to traffic operators, dynamic message signs, connected vehicles, and navigation providers. These immediate notifications allow traffic management centers to respond quickly, reducing the risks associated with wrong-way driving, one of the most dangerous hazards on highways.
The FDOT approval process for the system involved comprehensive product testing under various environmental conditions at the FDOT Traffic Engineering Research Lab (TERL). The system was evaluated to ensure it meets strict safety and performance standards, including ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Certification and NEMA certification. FDOT engineers also conducted site visits to inspect IntelliRoad’s facilities, reviewing operational processes and verifying the system’s reliability and quality.
